Editorial Policy

How SAJobMarket creates, reviews, and updates job listings and career content — and how we handle corrections.

Last updated: 7 March 2026

This page sets out the standards we apply when writing, reviewing, and maintaining content on SAJobMarket. It exists so that readers, employers, and advertising partners can see how the site decides what gets published, what gets edited, and what gets removed.

Editorial principles

  • Accuracy first: We aim to publish content that is factually correct, current, and clearly written. Where a fact is uncertain, we flag it rather than imply certainty.
  • Written for South African users: Our guides, salary ranges, and vacancy briefs are written with the South African labour market, regulatory environment, and hiring culture in mind.
  • Practical over promotional: Career content should help readers make better decisions, not simply push them toward paid services.
  • Clear editorial vs. paid distinction: Sponsored placements, when used, are labelled so visitors can tell them apart from standard editorial content.
  • Corrections when wrong: When a material error is identified, we update the page and, where relevant, note the correction.

How listings are reviewed

Before a listing is published, we look for:

  • A specific job title that matches the real role, not a vague catch-all.
  • A clear employer identity so candidates know who they are applying to.
  • Location information, typically down to city and province.
  • A lawful application route that does not collect sensitive data prematurely.
  • Enough information for a user to understand the role category, expected level, and any obvious prerequisites.

Listings can be edited for clarity, combined where they duplicate each other, or declined if they look misleading, impersonating, or too thin to help users.

How articles and guides are created

Career articles and vacancy briefs are written and updated by the SAJobMarket editorial team. The mix includes evergreen job-seeker guides (CVs, cover letters, interviews, scams), sector briefs (IT, finance, admin, logistics, government), salary information, and longer vacancy briefs that summarise public notices in fresh wording with practical context added.

We aim for content that is original, locally relevant, and written for people first rather than for ad or search manipulation. Where we reference figures or official frameworks, we try to name the source in-line so readers can verify for themselves.

Use of AI assistance

We may use writing tools, including AI assistants, to speed up drafting, formatting, or structural editing. All published content is reviewed by a human editor, and factual claims are checked against primary sources. We do not publish unreviewed machine-generated filler.

Advertising independence

Advertising or monetization does not buy favourable editorial treatment on SAJobMarket. Decisions about which guides to write, which vacancy briefs to publish, and which warnings to include are made by the editorial team, not by advertisers. Sponsored placements, where they appear, are labelled as such.

Corrections and takedowns

If you spot an error, an outdated figure, or a listing that should not be live, email support@sajobmarket.co.za with the page URL and a short description of the issue. We respond to correction requests during business hours and prioritise legal, safety, and privacy concerns.

Feedback

Reader feedback is welcome. Tell us where a guide was helpful, where it missed the mark, or where a section could be clearer. Editorial improvements on SAJobMarket are driven as much by user feedback as by internal review cycles.
